Day 06 of the 18th FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea
Gwangju, Thursday, 18th July 2019 - The final pool game of the Water Polo competition saw the SA women’s side going down to the highly skilled team from the USA at the 18th FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, today.
The Mzansi side lost the match by 1 goal to 26.
Chloe Meecham was on target for South Africa, while the USA scored through Madeline Musselman (five), Aria Fischer (four), Melissa Seidemann (three), Paige Hauschild (three), Stephanie Haralabidis (three), Kiley Neushul (three), Kaleigh Gilchrest (two), Makenzie Fischer (two) and Margaret Steffens (one).
Julia Vincent qualified 16th in the 3m Springboard Preliminaries with 268.30 points, and followed that performance with another 16th place finish in the semi-finals of the event, scoring 275.85.
In the Artistic Swimming’s Free Combination Preliminaries, Laura Strugnell, Emma Manners-Wood, Faith Adonis, Courtney Musson, Shannon Whyte, Nadine Vaarland, Sabrina Otto, Chloe Dundas-Starr, Nina Smith, Giulia Torino, Tayla-Jade Van Huyssteen and Sarah Williams finished 14th with 66.7000 points.
In Mzansi’s final Open Water race of the Championships, the mixed 5km relay, Michelle Weber, Robyn Kinghorn, Chad Ho and Danie Marais concluded in an overall 15th place in 56:52.9.
