The opening day saw South Africa dominate several matches, but Zimbabwe’s resilience shone through in tightly contested games, particularly in the women’s categories:
- ZIM u15 W Green edged out SA u15 W Blue 7-6 in a nail-biting finish.
- ZIM u17 W narrowly lost 7-8 to SA u17 W, showcasing the growing competitiveness of African women’s water polo.
- South Africa’s men’s teams demonstrated strong form, with SA u15 M Blue delivering a standout 27-3 victory over ZIM u15 M Green.
