Harare, Zimbabwe – 11 April 2025 – The Africa Aquatics Development Water Polo Tournament kicked off with thrilling matches at Hellenic Academy, as South African and Zimbabwean junior teams displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship in a day of intense competition.  

Day 1 Highlights: A Display of Emerging Talent

The opening day saw South Africa dominate several matches, but Zimbabwe’s resilience shone through in tightly contested games, particularly in the women’s categories:
 
- ZIM u15 W Green edged out SA u15 W Blue 7-6 in a nail-biting finish.  
- ZIM u17 W narrowly lost 7-8 to SA u17 W, showcasing the growing competitiveness of African women’s water polo.  
- South Africa’s men’s teams demonstrated strong form, with SA u15 M Blue delivering a standout 27-3 victory over ZIM u15 M Green.  

A Platform for Growth

The tournament, organized by Africa Aquatics and powered by World Aquatics, aims to:
 
- Provide competitive exposure for junior athletes.  
- Strengthen bilateral development between Zimbabwe and South Africa.  
- Inspire broader participation across Africa.
