Hana Heykel (EGY) and Leila Ali (EGY) the most representative of the continent
As in Kazan in 2016, the Egyptian swimmers have maintained their continental supremacy in the solo and duet events. However African participation in this competition is still limited to the swimmers of the Nile and those of Pretoria.
In free solo, Leila Ali (EGY) finished 21st with a score of 72.700 ahead of competitors from Serbia, Australia, Turkey, Uruguay, Lithuania, Porto Rico, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The South African Guilia Torino finished 31st with 60.600. In technical solo, it is another Egyptian Hanna Heykel who had a good performance with her 17th place out of 31participants and a score of 79.9187 ahead a notable swimmers from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Australia, Turkey, Uruguay, Lithuania, Porto Rico, Serbia and Singapore. Torino (RSA) finished 30th with 58.1444.
In free duet, the Egyptian pair Leila Ali and Nora Azmy finished 24th out of 35 teams with a score of 73.1333. The South Africans Taegan Van Zyl and Tayla-Jade Van Huyssteen could not do better than the 34th place with 60.8333. There were 33 countries competing in the technical duet event and the Egyptian pair Farida Radwan and Hanna Heykel finished 20th with 74.1333 while Teagan Van Zyl and Tayla-Jade Van Huyssteen (RSA) settled for the 32nd place with 59.5753.
In the free and technical team events the Egyptians finished 17th and 16th out of 22 countries. They were represented by Meriem Tarek, Farah El Ansary, Hanna Heykel, Maria Osman, Leila Ali, Nora Azmy, Farida Radwan, Shahd Abdallah, Jayda Sharaf and Malak Toson.
