How Artistic Swimming is Scored

Artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming, is judged on three main criteria: elements, artistic impression, and degree of difficulty.

  • Elements (145.1396): This aspect evaluates the execution of required movements and technical skills. The Egyptian team displayed remarkable synchronicity and precision in their elements, earning them high marks.

  • Artistic Impression (98.8500): This category judges the creativity, choreography, and overall presentation of the routine. The "Eye on Africa" theme was both powerful and evocative, capturing the judges' and audience's attention with its vibrant storytelling and dynamic execution.

  • Degree of Difficulty (44.550): This score reflects the complexity of the movements and formations. The higher the difficulty, the more challenging the routine. The Egyptian team's routine was ambitious, incorporating challenging elements that demonstrated their skill and athleticism.

A Stellar Performance

The Egyptians' performance was a celebration of African culture, bringing the spirit and diversity of the continent to the forefront. Their movements, set to a captivating soundtrack, painted a vivid picture of Africa's rich heritage, leaving the audience in awe.

As the team executed their final formations, the applause from the crowd was a testament to their exceptional performance. The routine's combination of high technical skill and artistic flair underscored the team's status as one of the top contenders in the sport.

Looking Ahead

With this stellar performance and a 10th place finish, the Egyptian artistic swimming team has set a high bar for future competitions. Their ability to blend technical precision with artistic expression highlights their dedication and passion for the sport.

As the Olympics continue, the Egyptian team will undoubtedly remain a source of inspiration and pride for their country and the African continent. Their performance in Paris is a clear indication that they are a force to be reckoned with on the global stage of artistic swimming.
