North Africa domination In the absence of the South African swimmers, the redistribution of medals has allowed 13 countries out of the 31 participating to be on the podiums. The countries from North Africa dominated by winning 30 titles out of the 33. Egypt won 28 medals includ-ing 13 gold, ahead of Tunisia who won 24 medals of which 7 gold. Schoenmaker, Gallagher and Lovemore the most remarkable The 2018 season was marked by the fall of 2 oldest long course African records held since 1999 by double Olympic Champion, Penny Heyns (RSA) on 50m breaststroke (30.83) and 100m breaststroke (1.06.52).
