The 2023 Swimming world cup will be live streamed on youtube...and its free!
The announcement follows Recast, which previously served as World Aquatics' live streaming and on-demand replay collaborator, facing financial instability last week due to the withdrawal of a significant investor from the project.
The 2023 World Aquatics World Cup Series is set to include three European destinations:
2023 World Aquatics World Cup Series:
- October 6-8: Berlin, Germany
- October 13-15: Athens, Greece
- October 20-22: Budapest, Hungary
The World Aquatics Swimming World Cup is designated as the qualifying event for both the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. This World Cup Series, comprising three meets, will span nine days across three nations, namely Germany, Greece, and Hungary.
Prize money will be awarded to both the overall top winner of the series and the leading performers at each individual meet. The top eight athletes in the overall series will receive substantial cash rewards. The athlete clinching the first position will receive a total of $100,000. The second-place athlete in the series will earn a prize of $70,000, while the third-place athlete will take home $30,000.
The athlete securing the fourth position will receive $15,000, and the fifth-place athlete will be awarded $14,000. The sixth-place athlete will receive $12,000, while those finishing in seventh and eighth place will collect $11,000 and $10,000, respectively.
The first meet is scheduled for October 6 to 8, 2023, in Berlin, Germany. The second meet will take place in Athens, Greece, marking the country's inaugural hosting of a Swimming World Cup event. This event symbolizes the resurgence of significant international sports competitions in the Greek capital city. Spanning three days from October 13 to 15, 2023. The third and final meeting will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from October 20 to 22, 2023. Competitors achieving top positions in each of these meetings will be awarded significant prize money.
Here's the prize money breakdown for the top 8 overall athletes of the Series, along with the additional prize for swimmers setting new world records:
