Paris, 2 August 2024 — The 2024 Paris Olympics showcased outstanding performances from African swimmers in the men's 50m freestyle heats, with Tobi Sijuade from Nigeria leading the charge with a remarkable time of 23.34 seconds in Heat 5.

In Heat 1, Pedro Rogery from Guinea-Bissau secured first place with a time of 28.34 seconds. Close behind were Marouane Mamane of Niger, finishing in 30.66 seconds, and Terence Tengue of the Central African Republic, clocking in at 30.96 seconds.

Heat 2 featured Freddy Mayala from Congo, who finished second with a time of 27.52 seconds. He was followed by Higinio Ndong from Equatorial Guinea, who finished in 28.42 seconds, and Adam Mpali from Gabon, touching the wall at 28.47 seconds. Aristote Ndombe from the Democratic Republic of Congo completed the race in 29.04 seconds, securing sixth place.

In Heat 3, Elhadj N'gnane Diallo of Guinea put on a strong performance, finishing second with a time of 26.45 seconds. Hot on his heels were Magnim Daou of Togo, who finished in 26.56 seconds, and Souleymane Napara from Burkina Faso and Jose Tati from Cape Verde, both clocking in at 26.66 seconds. Ousman Jobe of Gambia and Joshua Wyse from Sierra Leone completed the heat in 26.97 and 27.11 seconds, respectively.

Heat 4 saw a thrilling race with Belly-Cresus Ganira from Burundi finishing second with a swift time of 23.80 seconds. Aaron Owusu of Eritrea finished in 24.25 seconds, while Houmed Houssein Barkat from Djibouti and Camil Doua from Mauritania concluded the race with times of 26.00 and 26.02 seconds, respectively.

In the highly competitive Heat 5, Tobi Sijuade of Nigeria showcased his speed, finishing first with a remarkable time of 23.34 seconds. Damien Shamambo from Zambia and Filipe Gomes of Malawi wrapped up the heat, clocking in at 24.09 and 24.11 seconds, respectively.
