9 December 2024 - Namibia hosted the 20th Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming and Open Water Swimming Championships from 4 to 8 December 2024. 386 athletes from 15 countries competed in this, the biggest Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships ever since its inception as the CANA Zone IV competition. It was also one of the larger international aquatic events on the African continent this year. The Championships covered two aquatic disciplines in a Pool Swimming Competition and Open Water Swimming Competition.
SWIMMING COMPETITION
The Swimming Competition took place at Olympia Swimming pool, Windhoek (4 – 7 December 2024). We are proud to announce that Namibia has retained its crown in the swimming pool which we won last year in Angola. This year we won by beating runners up South Africa with almost 1000 points.

The President of NASFED, Riaan Steyn, stated: “Firstly I am ecstatic in that Namibia did not only defended its title in the Pool Swimming Competition, but is now also champions of the Open Water Swimming Competition and thus overall 2024 Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championship Winners.
Further am I extremely proud of the fact that the Local Organising Committee has been able to organise an event of such a World Class standard, which received not only praises from the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Services, Namibian National Olympic Committee and the Namibian Sport Commission, but also from the visiting Secretary General of Africa Aquatics
and the Bureau and President of Africa Aquatics Zone IV. We also received only praises form the different delegations of the attending countries as well as from the athletes themselves.”
