9 December 2024, Windhoek, Namibia – The Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships 2024, held from December 4-7 at the Windhoek Swimming Pool, showcased the incredible talent of young swimmers in the 11-12 age group. The event brought together future stars from across the continent, delivering thrilling performances and setting the stage for the next generation of African swimming.
Standout Achievements
Girls 11-12:
- Mozambique’s Estela B. Massingue clinched gold in the 200m Breaststroke with an impressive time of 3:05.15, showing exceptional strength and technique.
- Zimbabwe’s Amaranthine Dunkley emerged victorious in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 38.51, securing the gold against a competitive field.
- Zambia’s Kira Haabazoka delivered a stellar performance in the 200m Backstroke, clocking 2:47.86 to win gold.
Boys 11-12:
- Namibia’s Oelof Badenhorst dominated the 200m Breaststroke, taking gold with a time of 3:01.63, and also earned silver in the 100m Backstroke.
- Mauritius’ Adam Rajabalee captured gold in the 200m Backstroke with a strong finish at 2:45.24.
Most Races Won
- Girls: Mozambique’s Estela B. Massingue emerged as the most decorated swimmer in the 11-12 category, with victories in the 200m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Breaststroke.
- Boys: Namibia’s Oelof Badenhorst secured the most wins for boys, excelling in the 200m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Freestyle.
Relay Highlights
In the 4x100m Medley Relay, teams in the 11-12 age group displayed exceptional teamwork. Zambia’s Girls Relay Team secured a podium finish, while Mozambique’s Boys Relay Team demonstrated resilience to earn their spot in the top five.
