9 December 2024, Windhoek, Namibia – The 15-16 age group at the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships 2024 delivered elite-level competition, with athletes setting records and pushing boundaries across various disciplines.
Outstanding Swimmers
Girls 15-16:
- South Africa’s Scarlett Le Roux broke the AA Zone IV record in the 100m Backstroke, finishing in 1:07.25.
- Namibia’s Madison S. Bergh earned gold in the 800m Freestyle, setting a new record with a time of 9:53.77.
Boys 15-16:
- Namibia’s Lorenzo Esterhuizen narrowly missed the 100m Backstroke record but claimed gold with a time of 1:01.64.
- South Africa’s Adam Daniels secured gold in the 200m Breaststroke, showcasing excellent form with a time of 2:35.86.
Most Races Won
- Girls: South Africa’s Scarlett Le Roux stood out with multiple golds in the 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, and 50m Backstroke.
- Boys: Namibia’s Lorenzo Esterhuizen excelled, taking victories in the 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, and 50m Freestyle.
Relay Excellence
In the 4x100m Medley Relay, the South African Boys Team delivered a dominant performance, taking gold with a time of 4:08.03, while Namibia’s Girls Team delighted fans with a record-breaking 4:38.26 in their event.
